About Us

The Country Strings are an acoustic quartet of Western Pennsylvania musicians who combine solid rhythm, hot lead picking and rich harmony vocals to serve up a sonically sumptuous buffet of Bluegrass, Country and Americana music.

The group consists of Corey Wood on guitar, Valerie Wood on mandolin, Adam Dick on banjo, and Jennifer Ann on upright bass.

The Country Strings showcase a mix of songs chosen to highlight their unique blend of vocal and instrumental talents as well as pay homage to musical roots & heroes including Hot Rize, Newgrass Revival, The Bluegrass Album Band, The Country Gentlemen, J.D. Crowe, Alison Krauss, and The Dillards.

Additional influences molding Valerie, Corey, Adam and Jennifer throughout their lives include: clarinets, orchestras, marching bands, electric guitars and basses, jazz bands, live music of all kinds, and other musicians sharing their knowledge and songs.

Most importantly though…supportive family & friends who are also considered family.

The band’s name, The Country Strings, is a tribute to Corey’s late grandfather’s band of the same name. They were enjoyed at square dances and county fairs all over Southwestern Pennsylvania from the 1970s to the 1990s.

With a foundation built of friendship and a mutual appreciation for the opportunity to create music together, the current members of The Country Strings are looking forward to performing for you soon!
